ShowerBox runners and friends Ewen Kinnear, Bruce Loudon and Don Russell

We’re thrilled to see three of our dedicated volunteers, Ewen Kinnear, Bruce Loudon, and Don Russell, featured on the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce website!

These remarkable gentlemen, with a combined age of 192 years, are proving that age is just a number when it comes to making a difference. Ewen, Bruce, and Don have teamed up to bring ShowerBox’s life-changing mobile showering facilities to Birmingham.

Inspired by ShowerBox founder Sarah Lamptey’s mission to combat preventable diseases and boost the well-being of those experiencing homelessness, the friends are working tirelessly to convert a Luton van into a mobile shower unit. Local tradespeople have generously donated their time and expertise to this project, and ShowerBox is providing funding.

The goal? To have the mobile shower unit operational by mid-May, with Birmingham Cathedral as a potential host location.

The Great Birmingham Run 10K: A Race for Change

Ewen, a retired transport and logistics professional, and Don, a former social worker, are no strangers to long-distance running. However, for Bruce, this Great Birmingham Run 10K will be his first foray into the world of long-distance races.

Their participation isn’t just about personal challenge, though. Ewen, Bruce, and Don hope to raise awareness for ShowerBox and secure additional funding to support their mission. They’re also actively seeking volunteers to join their team. We’re incredibly grateful for the unwavering dedication of Ewen, Bruce, and Don. Their commitment to ShowerBox’s mission is truly inspiring.
