ShowerBox is over the moon to announce its nomination for the prestigious Charity of the Year Award at the national JustGiving Awards. This recognition shines a light on the organisation’s impactful work in providing free and secure shower facilities for London’s homeless population.

Since our inception in 2018, we have revolutionised street hygiene by offering mobile shower units that restore dignity and empower individuals experiencing homelessness. Through out transformative ShowerBox initiative, we have provided over 15,000 showers in the past five years, fostering improved personal hygiene, confidence, and disease prevention.

ShowerBox’s dedication to its mission extends beyond London. We have recently crowdfunded £25,000 to establish a new Birmingham site, further expanding our reach and impact. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the unwavering support of the JustGiving community, whose nominations placed ShowerBox among the finalists chosen from an impressive pool of over 13,000 contenders. Sarah Lamptey MBE, ShowerBox Project Leader commented:

“It’s truly humbling to be nominated for this award, especially considering JustGiving’s role in launching our journey. Five years and thousands of showers later, we remain committed to supporting our guests with their essential self-care needs. This recognition belongs not only to me, but to our incredible team of volunteers who pour their hearts into ShowerBox.”

The Charity of the Year winner will be announced on September 25th at London’s Roundhouse, receiving their award from prominent figures in the entertainment and sports world. ShowerBox is honoured to be among the finalists and remains deeply grateful to its generous donors and supporters.
